SAMARIA GORGE

Take a deep breath of fresh air up on the Omalos Plateau and get ready for a hiking adventure in the wonderful surroundings of the Cretan natural landscape. Enjoy a challenging trek through one of the longest and most famous gorges in Europe that finish on the shore of Libyan Sea with its shades of turquoise and deep blue. HIKING

Besides Samaria gorge, there are many smaller canyons and hiking routes that you can choose from. Agia Irini gorge, a slightly less demanding route with wild greenery, close to Sougia beach on the southern coast of Crete can be a good start. Imbros gorge and Aradena canyon near Chora Sfakion with their impressive paths are our next recommendation. The scenery, especially between Imbros and Sfakia, is simply unearthly beautiful. Once you arrive in Sfakia, you may stop in Iliggas for swimming or take the opposite direction towards Frangokastello, where you will find a quite well maintained Venetian castle.
